dormakaba is seeking a Software Technical Writer

Location:

• Miramar, FL

Position overview:

• Researches, outlines, writes, and edits new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements
• Executes software test plans to gain a better understanding of the product and write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience
• Gathers information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation
• Creates, maintains, and updates manuals, procedures, specifications, and other documents
• Creates, maintains, and updates installation instructions, training material, and other technical documents
• Compiles, organizes, and writes online help files to support end-users
• Creates tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications
• Writes technical documents in compliance with the company’s established standards and guidelines

Critical success factors:

• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with an eye for prioritization
• Firm understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC)
• Capacity to quickly learn and understand complex topics
• Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text videos and pictures

Education/Experience requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, or communications or relevant technical field
• 2-3 years’ industry experience as an effective technical writer
• Experience working with engineering to improve the user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content
• Experience using multimedia tools and authoring tools like Adobe RoboHelp
• Previous software development experience
• Certification through the Society for Technical Communicators
